Living On Mission

Living On Mission is a growing Christian podcast that seeks to share the truth of the gospel through testimonies and scripture. Their founder and host, Brayden, reached out to Kate Mitchell Creative as he was seeking a professional visual brand and a developed website on Squarespace. His ultimate desire for the podcast was to begin investing in its growth so that it can reach more people with the hope of Jesus Christ and biblical truth through the podcast episodes, social media, and the website through blog posts.

the challenge

Living On Mission desired a custom brand design that refreshes a few of the visual elements from their existing look, reaches multiple generations of listeners, and can be implemented across social media, their website, and potentially other print collateral in the future. They asked for a brand that feels inviting, creative, and connects to to their biblical mission statement in a stand out way.

Logo Design

The primary logo design in this brand design was one of our favorite parts. The movement and placement of the typography creates a unique layout while also creating an easy unit to place anywhere for the brand to show up. I designed the lettering in a manner that felt relevant to multiple generations of both men and women. The logo was also created to be timeless and versatile. I created a secondary and wordmark logo as well for Living On Mission to have some variety across mediums and orientations.

The backpack icon design was one of the previous concepts that Living On Mission wanted to bring forward with this refresh. I created this new and organic iconography that plays a key role in the brand personality. The backpack is a simple symbol for quick brand recognition while also introducing another design element that brings an authentic and welcoming aesthetic to the ideal target audience.

Mood Board

At the beginning of the brand development process, I created this mood board based on the vision and design preferences of Living On Mission. I was inspired by the nature imagery as it relates to the purpose of the podcast in helping people live sacrificially for the gospel in their daily walk of life. The mood board set the tone for the rest of the visual elements to follow.

Color Palette

The only color that was requested by Living On Mission was the light mint green. I kept that green tone in the final palette and then added additional varying blues and green to cater towards good contrast. The colors were heavily inspired by the nature theme of the mood board. They catered towards the specific symbolic concept of a journey across the ocean for the podcast listeners to connect with.

the solution

Living On Mission desired a custom brand design and website that could connect with their ideal audience in an authentic yet professional manner with the re-launching of their podcast. The branding elements that I designed at Kate Mitchell Creative are an effective solution to that problem. The visual identity now connects with the diverse target audience of men and women around the world in a timeless manner that communicates their brand vision and mission. Living On Mission has also now been setup with a cohesive and complimentary selection of graphic design materials to show up for their listeners on social media and on their new Squarespace website without any barriers of user experience.
